A Fragment of the Thames Foreshore Expanded

2022

For 6 months in 2021 I had a studio beside the Thames on the South Bank. It is an area I know well and I wanted to return to looking at the river and the city. I have been thinking for some time about the urban being like a frosting on a landscape, that a disintegrated city becomes dust and matter, the entropic cycle. Matter washes up on the foreshore, the city ground down. Softened brick, glass, plastic,  concrete. The charcoal drawings illustrate a moment on the ever changing shore, enlarged and expanded. They are a companion piece to One Takeaway Container of Thames Foreshore, Sorted, 2021 (see Archival)
